Mariupol Church and Rescue Mission

Located in southern Ukraine on the shores of the Sea of Azov, Mariupol is a city of 600,000. Work on the church building began in 2002 with six Work & Witness teams. Three teams followed in 2003. Completion is planned for 2004. This gallery documents the extreme makeover of the Mariupol Church and Rescue Mission.

Vinnitsa Church and Rehabilitation Center

Vinnitsa is located about four hours by car southwest of Kyiv. A brick building was purchased in 2001 for use as an addiction rehabilitation center and a worship center, offices, and classrooms. Work on the building began in 2003 with five Work & Witness teams. Click here to see the project overview.

Arizona District in Mariupol - April 2004

This team of 13 from the Arizona District travelled to Mariupol from April 25 to May 7, 2004. This gallery documents their journey from Arizona to Mariupol and back.

Grant-Harney in Mariupol - August 2003

This team of 15 from John Day, Oregon (Grant County) and Burns, Oregon (Harney County) travelled to Mariupol from August 8, 2003 to August 23, 2003. This gallery documents their journey from Oregon to Mariupol and back, including an overnight layover in London. DU Coordinators Greg and Bob Armstrong were members of this team.

Eagle Church of the Nazarene in Vinnista - June 2003

This team, primarily from the Eagle, Idaho Church of the Nazarene, travelled to Vinnista from June 7, 2003 to June 21, 2003. This gallery documents their journey from Idaho to Vinnista and back, including the layover day in London. NIVS Doug and Marla Tibbs (Economic Development Director in Russia) headed up the Eagle team.

Obnovlenia (Renewal) Children's Center

For the past 2 years the Church has partnered with this home to reach out to orphans and street children in Mariupol. Teams travelling to Mariupol are housed in the home, who also provides breakfast and dinner each day. This gallery highlights some of the visiting teams and the wonderful children of Obnovlenia.
